Cookie policy

Last updated 8 October 2026

This page explains what this site stores on your device, why it is stored, and how long it stays. It covers cookies and the equivalent browser storage, which the law treats the same way.

Nothing that needs your permission is loaded before you give it. When you first arrive you see a banner with an equal choice to accept or reject. Analytics stays switched off unless you accept, and ignoring the banner counts as a rejection.

What is stored

Purpose What it does Name How long Consent
Analytics (Google Analytics 4) Counts visits and shows which pages people read, so I know what is worth writing more of. It loads only after you accept. _ga, _ga_<id> Up to 2 years Requires your consent
Your cookie choice Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics, so you are not asked on every page. Stored in your browser, never sent to a server. cc_consent_v1 (local storage, not a cookie) 6 months, then you are asked again Strictly necessary
Traffic source Records the site that sent you here and any campaign tag, so an enquiry can be attributed to the right channel. Stored only if you accept analytics. aa_src (session storage, not a cookie) Until you close the tab Requires your consent
Booking widget (Cal.com) Runs the calendar you use to book a call. Cal.com sets its own cookies to make the booking work and to stop abuse. Set by cal.com See the Cal.com privacy notice Needed to provide the booking you asked for
Dashboard sign in Keeps me signed in to my private operations dashboard. Visitors never receive it. dash_auth Until you sign out Strictly necessary

Changing your mind

You can withdraw or give consent whenever you like, and it takes effect straight away.

You can also clear cookies in your browser settings, which resets the choice. If you reject analytics, any Google Analytics cookie already on your device is deleted.

Who receives the data

Analytics data goes to Google, which acts as my processor and may transfer data outside the European Economic Area under the EU to US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses. Addresses are anonymised before they reach the reports.

The booking calendar is run by Cal.com, and the site is hosted by Vercel. Each keeps its own server logs for security and reliability.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask for it to be corrected or erased, object to how it is used, and complain to a supervisory authority. In the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office.
